i caught woody allen and the eddy davis new orleans jazz band at the cafe carlyle last week in new york. the room is small and the performance is quite intimate. woody keeps his eyes shut through most all of the performance. i am not a huge fan of big band music but there was an exciting vibe and i fell for it. to see this academy award, and golden globe winning director, screenwriter and actor playing his clarinet for pure pleasure, as he says that that is why he plays, was just a treat for me. he has been playing the clarinet since the age of 15, and says he is not that good but that he is carried by the band. it is an extreme joy and powerful feeling to do anything for pure pleasure. that’s what it’s about. pure pleasure is a wonderful feeling. i can still hear the clarinet and the band playing…pure pleasure. seeing woody, at almost 80, performing for pure pleasure and sharing his passion, was as well just pure pleasure for thebestdressup now!

today will be zuma’s grand opening in the city. there is no city like new york city and, being in new york city, makes this restaurant’s presence global. zuma has arrived in new york city, and before opening it’s doors, zuma ny has generated a high degree of excitement. i am not a huge fan of restaurant franchises, or any establishment for that matter making a global presence. but globalization has become the way of the world. the concept of a unique establishment in it’s origin city/place is an endangered idea. the idea is to duplicate in as many places as the market will support. globalization. globalization serves a purpose by producing the familiar everywhere so that anywhere becomes just like ‘home’. anywhere feels like somewhere. global presence offers the comfort of the familiar. welcome globalization, if just for the sake of the comfort of the familiar. although uniqueness has innumerable merits, the familiar can be comforting for thebestdressup now!

my dear wilma was visiting from paris last month and i was so delighted to have her over for dinner. she is an absolute luvFAB cook and she has taught me much about cooking. as i wanted to make her a memorable dinner, i asked her what she would enjoy. she said she had only one request–make it light. i served several dishes, all light, and the mela-melo salad was a favourite. ‘make it light’ turned out to be the best request for thebestdressup now!
i will agree that just the absolute best is having health and love. i tend to not want to accept any absolutes, but health and love are absolutes. and other than these ‘absolute’ best, i find that there is ‘just’ the best. just the best is a relative concept that tends to vary at different times and points. just the best can be a smile, a stroll, a caress and a scent. it could be the view from your window or the feast to be shared. a trip to a favourite destination or a discovery journey. it can be beholding art or a view that posses you, creating a dish or enjoying a coffee. on and on, just the best is your choice. you make it just the best. and why just the best? the alternative lacks enthusiasm. an enthusiastic 2015 is what it’s about. whatever is just the best to you, in 2015, enjoy it with utmost enthusiasm. an enthusiastic 2015 is just the best for thebestdressup now!

My only regret in life is that I didn’t drink enough Champagne. ~ Robert Noecker
Too much of anything is bad, but too much Champagne is just right. ~ Mark Twain
last month, on a stunning morning jog in london, it felt just right to find the discarded stacks of empty bottles on my way. i was not at that party. i had been at another celebration the night before, and had a bit, as it is not ever too much, of my favourite, favourite champagne. seeing the remains of that party on the morning after, made me smile. i thought of all the bottles popped everywhere on that night. i was wearing a luvFAB bracelet that my bff, janine, had offered me, from a fantastic site, Trend On Line. i looked at my wrist, the bracelet has an inscription that reads, ‘make it pop like pink champagne’. it felt just right. make it pop just how it suits you…before it is all discarded. no regrets. discard all regrets. pop it when you can. regrets are not for thebestdressup now!

Everybody wants to shine a little bit, even a wallflower. ~ Phyllis Smith
what shines the most in london is not necessarily the sun. but then, you must know that london is not known for its sunshine. yet, i found shine everywhere. though mostly it was not sunshine, it was ego shine. so how far does one go to make the ego shine? in london, i found an array of displays that took the spotlight. and the spotlight is precisely what it takes to allow the ego to shine. it struck me that perhaps dim lit days provokes the need for ego shine. actually, we all want to shine, just a bit, at any time. and at the risk of indulging your ego without brutal harm to anyone, do your best to shine a little bit. perhaps a bit of restrain should be observed when you spotlight your luvSTUFF. do shine a little bit. a little bit of ego shine is for thebestdressup now!
The way i see it, you should live every day like its your birthday. ~ Paris Hilton
we celebrate birthdays on a yearly basis, although we have a rebirth upon every awakening. we ought to celebrate our daily moments, and so enthusiastically well, so that the moment leaves a lasting memory. daily or yearly, live your moment well. it actually is our birthday every day of our life. give yourself a birthday gift. give yourself a luvFAB gift of memories of your choice. the gift is the memory of the moment, that is the gift that remains. madrid was just the best memory. the gift that remains is just the best birthday gift for thebestdressup now!
“But he who dares not grasp the thorn
Should never crave the rose.”
~ Anne Brontë
why do you send roses? not just flowers, but roses in particular. to send love is an answer. and when sent for no specific reason, other than to send love to the recipient, sends a powerful message of love. a most unexpected and lovely bouquet of roses was set outside my door yesterday. i could not anticipate who the unusual suspect was that sent this bouquet. no card was included. but the roses spoke. i felt the love. this rose bouquet reminded me of the very first time roses were ever sent. a precious rose picked to express love. how original to have nature deliver this powerful expression. send a rose for no apparent reason. the languge of a rose is love spoken naturally. sending roses is an expression of love for thebestdressup now!
