panna cotta, dessert, the best dress uopanna cotta

seves 4-6


  • 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 5 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 vanilla bean
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons granulated gelatin
  • 200 gr. /8 ounces dark chocolate
  • 4 tablespoons milk


soften gelatin in 2 tablespoons of chilled water.

combine cream, milk, sugar and vanilla bean in a saucepan, and simmer for 10 minutes.

remove from heat and remove vanilla bean from cream mix, and scrape seeds into cream mixture.

whisk dissolved gelatin in warm cream mixture.

pour cream mixture in cups.

refrigerate at least 4 hours or overnight.

before serving: melt chocolate with 4 tablespoons of milk over med heat or 1 min in micro wave and stir well.

pour chocolate sauce in container.

serve panna cotta cups with chocolate sauce.

when i am pressed for time to make a dessert, well, panna cotta is my choice.  just the best quick recipe.  as i make it in mini cups, it is light and yes, delicious.  in warm days, i serve it with mixed berries and a strawberry coulis.  it’s a versatile recipe, and can be made with a variety of flavours.  coffee, orange zest or grappa are favourites.  this is a luvMUST recipe for quick entertaining.  yum…a quick recipe is for thebestdressup now!

  6. We made this once with P, who was four at the time. Perfect in its simplicity and its deliciousness, though your strawberry and chocolate embellishments certainly make it look even more perfect, if that’s possible!
