books and people

Books are not made for furniture, but there is nothing else that so beautifully furnishes a house. ~ Henry Ward Beecher

although books do provide an appealing attraction in a house, books are not just decorative objects.  books must be read.  they must be opened to reveal their story.  the story that is within.  i find books to be like people.  they say that you never judge a book by its cover, as what lies within, just like with people, is where the real story is to be found.  some are a quick and simple read, while others are difficult yet interesting.  books like people contain unlimited varied contents.  open a book and read it, so it can furnish its content.  do not let it be just part of the furniture.  and like with people, discover what’s inside.  the story within is for thebestdressup now!

I was surprised to find there are people who have no books, who don’t read… can you imagine? It would be like having no food, starving the spirit rather than the body.

I love to read, so books are seemingly everywhere in my house. They make it feel like home. Great post!

So funny to read your post now: a while ago I realized I had totally fallen out of the habbit of reading. So this evening I started curled up on the couch. Heaven!
