who are you?

Sometimes people carry to such a perfection the mask they have assumed that in due course they actually become the person they seem. ~ W. Somerset Maugham

new york, mask, identity, the best dress up

i asked, “who are you?”  no response.  perhaps i was being ignored.  again i asked.  clearly there was no interest to respond.  then, i called a name…elmo.   turning slowly towards me, i asked once again, “who are you?”

no doubt you looked surprised.  neither one of us could figure who you were.  although you looked like him, i knew you were not elmo.  but, who are you?  unmasked.  be who you want to be.  you don’t have to wear a mask.  being who you want to be is what it’s all about.  free your soul.  who are you?  knowing who ‘you’ are is for thebestdressup now!

Fabulous quote….that is going straight on a post-it and in my work note book. (I love the idea of carrying an inspiring quote around to look at until a new quote totally grabs me :-> )
